Croton

 Crotons are excellent & colorful foliage plant in tropical & mild sub-tropical climate. Light is an essential for bright color of foliage, so when use in indoor gardening they should kept in such a place where they can get maximum sunlight like balcony, near the window etc. They are evergreen bush with wide variety of size, shape & color of leaves. It can be grown either in pot or in ground. Light & porous soil, rich in organic matter, balanced nutrients & optimum moisture promote growth & the leaves remain fresh glossy and colorful. There is no limit to the range of color from green to yellow through orange, shades of red to almost black. It also varies in different seasons due to temperature, humidity & more due to intensity & duration of sunlight. The pot compost should consist of one part each of well decomposed farm manure and leaf mould & two parts loam. Feeding with dilute solution of N, P and K in warm, moist climate and adequate light will keep the crotons colorful. Nutrient deficiency results in smaller leaves which may drop off. Numerous varieties of color, shape of leaf are available nowadays.

It is a dwarf attractive bush. Leaves are narrow-linear, drooping, green & yellow when young, with age becomes crimson & yellow.

Croton Delaware

It is a well shaped medium sized plant with large leaves & prominent veins, with yellow & green color.

Croton Golden Ring

It is a showy variety with long twisted drooping narrow leaves, variegated with yellow & green.
